Reflections on 2005

2005 has been a year defined by transition. I lived in California, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Georgia, and Virginia this year and consulted for 4 different companies – finally taking a full time job in Washington, D.C. I’m as settled as psyche will let me be.

The last part of this year has been defined by the loss of two friends – both by suicide. It makes me realize that as I get older more and more people I care about will die – whether by suicide or natural causes. It’s the natural order of things but the natural order is very painful to those who care.

2005 also marked my return to a salary based job rather than a consulting contract – the first in 7 years. It’s been a trial by fire and I’m slowly learning how to run a business. It’s not easy but it is very rewarding. I feel like a total geek because I actually look forward to going to work in the morning. Okay, maybe not every day, but almost every day.

2005 was a learning year. Some things came into focus and others I’ve yet to tackle. 2006 may be the year for that. Thanks for taking the time to download and read this collection of random thoughts and dreams.
