Cobb County In 18th Century

From the journal Science, “School officials in Cobb County, Georgia, yesterday agreed to drop their 4-year attempt to tell high school biology students that evolution is only a “theory.” Local school officials had fought a ruling by a federal judge to remove stickers that they had placed on textbooks, but yesterday, they threw in the towel, pledging to adhere to the state science curriculum and also to pay $167,000 in legal fees to the plaintiffs. In return, the five parents who brought the suit agreed to drop any further legal action against the school district.”

Christmas Love

I want to love a girl and I’m very confused, should I believe her and risk being refused? She says she loves me but she’s so far away. Will she love me on our 50th Anniversary Day? Life is so short and love so dear, we try to catch love when love comes near. She’s soft and curvy and ambitious, too. The issues of the day we debate and review. Like legos she says we just click together, but I was just talking about fair weather. What if my heart gets stomped once again? Maybe I’ll retreat and go practice Zen. But what if she really does love me for me? What if she sees us retired on the beach at 63? Maybe I could open up a little, maybe I should. Maybe to love is the world’s greatest good. I think that I could, maybe I might, tell her that I love her this Christmas night. Maybe she’ll be happy maybe she’ll be sad. But at least I’ll know I’ve it given all I had.

Babel: Listen and Try to Understand

Two solid conclusions that come out of modern mathematics and physics is that all matter is connected and that once two particles come into contact with one another, they are forever connected. Another conclusion, from chaos theory, is that events that seem completely unrelated and inconsequential can be connected in a profound way. The most common metaphor given is the butterfly flapping its wings in Central Park. The idea is that a butterfly flapping its wings in one spot on the planet can cause a hurricane or tsunami on the other side of the world. It goes back to all things being connected and all actions having a reaction.
